4-American Poetry in the 21st Century

What is the nature of American poetry in the 21st—century? Who are the leading poets, and why are they recognized by their peers? How and why do these poets move us and influence our own lives? In this course, we will discuss several representative poems with an eye to larger literary movements. No previous knowledge of poetry is required. In some ways, this is a course on how to read a poem.
